Here are some useful FAQs

What type of supply staff do you need?

We require both qualified teachers and experienced teaching assistants.  As we focus on primary schools it is essential that everyone has recent relevant experience for this age group.

How do I register for supply work?

Simply complete our online enquiry form and then we will contact you to discuss your requirements and arrange an appointment to meet. Alternatively call us on 01235 832 828.

What qualifications do I need?

To register with Class Act Teaching Services you will need to hold a relevant and recognised teaching qualification. UK qualified teachers must hold QTS and be registered with the DfE Teaching Agency. Overseas trained teachers must hold a recognised Teaching Qualification verified by UK Naric, have an overseas police check and have a valid visa / work permit. At interview you will also need to:
  • -Attend a face-to-face interview
  • -Produce original documents relating to your Teaching Qualifications, QTS, two forms of ID and proof of address
  • -Produce evidence of recent Safeguarding training
  • -Supply details of two teaching referees
  • -Undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check if not in receipt of a recent DBS check (or registered with the DBS Update Service)

How much will I get paid and when?

We pay competitive rates of pay according to your experience, paid on a weekly basis. We fully adhere to the Working Time Directive and the Agency Workers Regulations.

What type of work can you offer me?

We can offer you supply work to suit your requirements whether it is on a full-time or part-time basis. We also offer a permanent appointment service.

Do you accept Newly Qualified Teachers?

Yes, we actively encourage applications from NQTs. We appreciate that for most NQTS supply teaching may be a first step in securing a more permanent teaching position. Supply teaching can be a valuable learning opportunity for our NQTs that will stand you in good stead for the future.a

I have had a gap in teaching, can I still apply for supply work?
We will be happy to discuss this with you after you have made your initial enquiry.

How much work will I get as a supply teacher?

Due to the nature of supply work, we cannot guarantee work. However, we do make time to contact our teachers on a weekly basis to ascertain availability so that when suitable work does come in we can contact you. The more flexible you are with the areas you can work in; the amount of days you are available; and the age ranges you are confident teaching; the more work we are likely to find you.

Do you provide training?

We hold regular CPD courses in the Oxford and Abingdon areas covering a wide range of topics.  Our regular newsletter gives details of upcoming courses and all teachers and TAs are invited to attend these training events.
Do you only cover Oxfordshire?
Yes and no!  We focus on Oxfordshire, but we also provide supply teachers to the borders or neighbour counties including Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Northamptonshire.  We believe that by focussing on one area, from one office, we can provide a much higher level of service to both our schools and teachers.
In Summary
Whether it's a teacher job in Oxfordshire, a supply teacher role in Bicester, a primary supply teacher in Banbury or in an agency teacher role in Abingdon, Witney, Chipping Norton, Wantage or any other town we can help.
