Frequently Asked Questions

How do I go about registering for supply work?

The simplest way to register is to complete our online enquiry form and then we will contact you to discuss your requirements and arrange an appointment to meet.

Alternatively you can call us free on 0800 028 6196.

What qualifications do you need to have?

In order to register with Class Act Teaching Services you will need to hold a relevant and recognised teaching qualification. UK qualified teachers must hold QTS and be registered with the General Teaching Council. Overseas trained teachers must hold a recognised Teaching Qualification verified by UK Naric and have a valid visa / work permit.

You will also need to:

  • Attend a face-to-face interview
  • Produce original documents relating to your Teaching Qualifications, QTS, two forms ID, proof of address, GTC membership
  • Supply details of two teaching referees
  • Undergo a Criminal Records Bureau Enhanced Disclosure check if not in receipt of a recent CRB check

How much will I get paid and when?

We pay competitive rates of pay according to your experience, paid on a weekly basis.

What type of work can you offer me?

We can offer you supply work to suit your requirements whether it is on a full-time or part-time basis. We also offer a permanent appointment service.

I am an overseas qualified teacher, can I still register for supply work?

Yes, but you must have a teaching qualification from an EU country, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa. Teachers from other countries must contact UK Naric to have their qualifications verified.

In addition you must:

  • Hold a valid visa / work permit
  • Be in receipt of a police check from the country where you have come from
  • Be able to provide at least two forms of ID, including your passport
  • Provide details of at least two teaching referees

Do you accept applications from Newly Qualified Teachers?

Yes, we actively encourage applications from NQT’s. We appreciate that for most NQT’S supply teaching is a stop gap measure until you secure a more permanent teaching position. However, we feel that supply teaching can be a valuable learning opportunity for our NQT’s that will stand you in good stead for the future.

I have had a gap in teaching, can I still apply for supply work?

We will be happy to discuss this with you after you have made your initial enquiry. We usually suggest that teachers enrol on a return to teaching course if you have been out of the classroom for a considerable amount of time.

How much work will I get as a supply teacher?

Due to the nature of supply work, we cannot guarantee work. However, we do make time to contact our teachers on a weekly basis to ascertain availability so that when suitable work does come in we can contact you.

Do you provide access to teaching resources & training?

Yes. We will help you with your own professional development as much as possible by offering access to a range of resources, training and developmental opportunities.
